Overnight Care

How does Overnight Care work?

ICare understands that every person has unique needs and requires a tailored approach to meet them. We provide Overnight Care so you can receive additional assistance when you need it. During the night, our caregivers will visit you or your loved ones at home, offering support with a variety of tasks, including preparing for bed, administering medications, and helping with toileting.

Is overnight care suitable for everyone?

Overnight care is suitable for people who need assistance and care during the night, offering you and your family peace of mind. For instance, it might be required for short-term postoperative care, when assistance is needed with activities such as dressing, using the bathroom, taking medications at night, or managing more complex tasks, such as changing Stoma bags, wound dressings, ventilation monitoring, etc. Additionally, it ensures you feel safe and cared for during the night by providing essential support and companionship.

Overnight care is most commonly chosen for the following reasons:

  1. Dementia care overnight: Dementia causes memory loss, disorientation, and difficulty communicating. During the night, people with dementia, particularly those with advanced stages, may feel confused and lost. With an overnight caregiver, your loved one will receive proper care and support in their own home, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  2. Overnight Respite Care: Sometimes, families need time to recover from caregiving responsibilities. Our overnight respite care services allow you to sleep soundly, knowing that your loved ones are being well taken care of. In situations where 24/7 supervision is needed, this service is also beneficial for live-in carers who need proper sleep.
  3. Incontinence: As we age, it is common to experience difficulties controlling bladder and bowel functions. As a result, frequent trips to the toilet are made, especially during the early hours of the morning. Our caregivers will help you minimise the risk of falls and reduce the need for trips to the toilet with their support.
  4. Care after an operation: This type of care usually lasts for a short time and is designed to help you or your loved one recover during the night. In certain situations, you may need assistance with tasks such as using the toilet, dressing and undressing, positioning to prevent pressure sores, and administering medications. Complex procedures include catheterisation, stoma care, and wound management. In addition, an overnight caregiver can provide companionship and emotional support during the night.
  5. Companionship: The feeling of loneliness can be distressing and frightening, especially at night. The compassionate care and support of our carers ensure that you are never alone in your home and can always depend on assistance if needed.

Our team at ICare can co-produce a care plan with you that addresses your unique care needs and how to support you in your home environment. Our goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, secure, and safe in your own home.

Following the sad passing of Michael from flat 38 Tulloch Court, I want to give my thanks to the ICare team for their support. Michael's care needs were always considered, and he was treated with dignity and grace. ICare went above and beyond to ensure a dignified end; they were amazing to Michael and gave great comfort to a very poorly man.

My overall experience is 5 out of 5 and I just want to say how safe and respected I feel by my regular carers. My two carers are really nice ladies, that always make me feel as if I'm not a burden and it's a pleasure to see me.

Staff always do their best to be friendly and helpful, even when things haven't run as smoothly as usual. Management are open to concerns and try to accommodate requests as best they can. Recently there have been some staff changes but nothing too disruptive, it has been well managed to minimise the impact on my family. Greatly appreciated!

I Care have been providing care to my Mum for 3 weeks now, very nice staff who take the time to listen and give care the way she wants. Can't fault them, really. The managers have been really helpful, and even sorted out a lift for Mum to hospital so she didn't have to wait for an ambulance.
